About this book

Five Treatises of the Philosophers Stone is a historical anthology of alchemical writings printed in London in 1651 (its title page bears the date 1652). This Book Coven edition offers scans of the early printed work, preserving the original typography, illustrations and historical appearance.

The collection contains five treatises: two attributed to Alphonso, King of Portugal, one by John Sawtre, one by the German philosopher Florianus Raudorff, and a treatise on the names of the Philosophers Stone by William Gratacolle. The historical volume also includes the Smaragdine Table, better known as the Emerald Tablet.

The early English collection was prepared under the initials H. P., commonly associated with Henry Pinnell. These texts illuminate the symbolic language and traditions surrounding the Philosophers Stone and early modern European alchemy.

Access the scanned historical edition as an ebook in the Templum Dianae Book Coven classroom. This is a historical facsimile, not a newly typeset or modernized transcription. Select Premium Included to visit the dedicated Skool lesson; access is subject to Book Coven membership.
